Young readers will receive their reading medal and completion certificate on stage from special guests. Hog Wild About Reading Motorcycle Ride for Literacy runs from 9: 30 a.m. to 3: 15 p.m. Registration and a pancake breakfast runs from 8 to 9: 30 a.m. at the Backstage Grille at Boulevard Casino, 2080 United Blvd. in Coquitlam. The ride finishes at Barnes Harley-Davidson in Langley for a barbecue (with stops at the Sasquatch Inn and Harrison Hot Springs, where lunch will be available, as well as Duke's Pub). Everyone who donates $25 or more will be entered to win the grand prize, a weekend for two at Harrison Hot Springs. All makes and models of motorcycles, as well as cars, are welcome. Coquitlam Fire Rescue celebrates 100 years of service with an afternoon of fun and entertainment for the entire community. Everyone is invited to enjoy a short ceremonial presentation by the Coquitlam Fire Rescue Honour Guard, and rescue demonstrations by fire crews. Firefighters will be on hand, along with vintage and operational fire trucks, for photos. Festivities include face painting, beverages and a barbecue. The event will take place at Spirit Square, 3000 Burlington Dr., from noon to 4 p.m.
