PORT MOODY — Coquitlam RCMP have released the name of the pedestrian killed in Thursday’s collision in Anmore.

Police have identified Roland Webb, 37, of Anmore as the victim of the deadly crash.

Webb was a supervisor at BC Ambulance and a member of Coquitlam Search and Rescue.

"Our victim services is working with Roland's family to deal with this very tragic incident," said RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung in a statement.

“He was well liked and respected by his peers and subordinates alike. His untimely death is a great loss to the community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Roland's family and his friends.”

Coquitlam SAR search manager Dwight Yochim told The NOW the organization is praying for the family.

“He was obviously very close to everyone on the team,” he said.

Coquitlam SAR sent out this message on twitter Wednesday night: “We’re mourning the passing of our dear friend, brother and team member tonight. The world was safer with you in it. We miss you already.”

On Thursday, police said a man was hit by a dump truck heading southbound on East Road as he walked his dog in a crosswalk at Hummingbird Drive shortly after 9:30 a.m.

He died at the scene.

At the time, Chung said it was too early to say which factors led to the crash or whether any charges were being considered. However, he noted the driver of the truck remained on scene and was co-operating with police.

Coquitlam Mounties are urging any potential witnesses who have not spoken to investigators to contact Cpl. Richard O'Rourke or Const. Michael Halewood of Coquitlam Traffic Services at 604-945-1550.
