Want to help animals in your community?

The Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause walk will take place on Sunday, Sept. 9 at Lafarge Lake (across from Douglas College) in Coquitlam.

Registration begins at 10: 30 a.m., and the walk starts at noon.

The walk will take participants twice around the lake, for a total distance of around three kilometres.

Parking will be available at Douglas College and Evergreen Cultural Centre.

Registration is $25 per person, and participants will be able to register as individuals or as part of a team. Top fundraisers will be eligible to win prizes including an Okanagan trip (courtesy of sponsor See Ya Later Ranch Winery), an Xbox Kinect bundle and a group gift basket from Bosley's Pet Food Plus valued at $1,000.

After the walk, participants and spectators will be able to enjoy a range of entertainment and activities, including a doggie look-a-like contest, musical sit contest, Aussie Pet Mobile nail clips by donation, Papa Dave's pizza, RCMP officers in full regalia, community vendors, prizes and goodies.
