Port Coquitlam will once again celebrate its rivers and trails network on Sept. 29 with a variety of events.
Lions Park and Peace Park will offer unique activities focused on celebrating the community's rivers, trails and natural environment. The festivities kick off at Lions Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., continuing at Peace Park from noon to 4 p.m. Activities at Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) include Culture Days activities, displays, a salmon smolt release, live music by the Working Stiffs, and a concession.
At Peace Park (1470 Kebet Way), tickets for paddlewheeler river tours on the MV Native will go on sale at noon for $2 on a firstcome, first-served basis. The paddlewheeler tours are at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. and tickets typically sell out.
Other activities at Peace Park include a concession, a boat-building workshop and crafts, displays and live music performances.
There will be a guided bike ride between the Peace and Lions parks along a scenic 10-kilometre portion of the Traboulay PoCo Trail, leaving Lions Park at 11:30 a.m. For more info, visit www.portcoquitlam.ca/festivals.
