The Coquitlam Adanacs proved unstoppable at the B.C. Intermediate B Lacrosse championships last week.
Outscoring their opponents 32-11 to get into the title game, Coquitlam received stellar netminding from tourney MVP Christian Del Bianco to edge Juan de Fuca 6-5 for the gold medal.
Del Bianco, a midget call-up, kept the Island rival at bay in the dying moments as a 6-1 lead petered down to a onegoal thriller. Coquitlam got two goals from Chris Turenne and singles by Tyson Abbott, Riley Crosby, Danny Hagerty and Kyle Weir.
Earning all-star team positions were Alex Bodin, who posted a team-high 10 points, and Hayden Budnick.
To advance to the final, Coquitlam posted a perfect 3-0 record, beginning with a 9-5 triumph over Port Moody.
Trevor Chernoff, Bodin and Crosby each tallied twice in the opener, with singles by Jared Best and Weir.
They followed that by dousing Delta 13-1, behind Chernoff's four-goal performance.
That pitted the Adanacs against Juan de Fuca to end the round robin, and they proceeded to double-up on the Island crew 10-5. Weir netted a hat trick, with Liam Rainey contributing a pair.
Finishing third overall was the Port Moody Thunder, who topped Delta 10-8 to claim the bronze.
