Conservatives seek nominees to run in Black's old riding

The BC Conservatives announced Thursday that the candidate election for the Port Moody-Coquitlam riding is now open.

Former MLA Iain Black stepped down from the position after accepting a job as president and CEO of the Vancouver Board of Trade.

John Cummins, leader of the BC Conservatives, said the party will hold an open nomination for candidates to prepare for the provincial byelection in Port Moody-Coquitlam.

"Our elected candidate will ensure that the constituents in this riding have a real choice when choosing who to elect to represent them when the byelection is called," Cummins said in a press release.

Potential candidates must submit their application by Dec. 1. Anyone interested in running can contact Jim Mitchell at conservatives@bcconservative.ca.

The BC Conservative candidate election meeting will be Dec. 15.
