According to new Census data, 500,000 Canadians have Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
Tri-Cities families now have access to a resource to help them cope with the challenges that accompany that diagnosis.
Home Instead Senior Care is offering two free Alzheimer's family training workshops for those dealing with Alzheimer's and other dementia on June 19 and 26 at Blue Mountain Baptist Church, 450 Blue Mountain St. in Coquitlam.
Home Instead Senior Care has developed a unique person-centred care program for seniors with the disease, after working with some of the top Alzheimer's experts in North America.
The workshops will discuss how to manage behaviour, encourage engagement, and caring for themselves while caring for a loved one. The workshops run June 19 and 26, 6 to 9 p.m.
Those interested in attending can RSVP by calling 604552-3324.
