He has lived and played in PoCo for close to 25 years, and on Monday, John Leeburn officially added work to that list. The city's new chief administrative officer (CAO) was feted with a brief introductory celebration at the beginning of Monday's council meeting.

Leeburn was hired in late July after a four-month search, though his first day on the job coincided with the end of council's summer break. He replaces Tony Chong, who stepped down from the role in April, and brings 25 years of experience in municipal government to his new role.

Leeburn's new posting comes after 17 years at the District of Maple Ridge, where his most recent job title was executive director to the CAO.

He began his career in municipal government in 1987 as assistant director of human resources in New Westminster.

In his new role as PoCo's most senior staff member, he'll provide support and advice to council, develop and implement strategies and manage the city's staff.
