Metro Vancouver hosts a free family event, Critter Capers: the Case of the Cracked Shell, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Belcarra Regional Park. A cracked seashell was found in the forest. How did it get there and who was trying to eat it? Kids six years and older, and their families, are invited to examine fur, feathers and other evidence to solve the mystery, as well as make a plaster track to take home. Allow one hour to walk the loop trail and complete the activities. Participants who solve the mystery before 2 p.m. will receive a reward. Westwood Community Church hosts a family fun day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1294 Johnson St. in Coquitlam. Highlights include live music, food, a large bake sale, jewelry, a bouncy castle, face painting, carnival games and a five-hole mini golf area.
City of Port Coquitlam hosts a free concert, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Leigh Square bandshell. Ivan Dimitrov will play a mix of Brazilian, Argentinian, Cuban and Spanish guitar music. Parents and students of Maillard Middle School French Immersion Program host a car wash and bottle drive fundraiser, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Centennial Secondary parking lot entrance off Winslow Avenue (near Poirier Street). Car wash by donation. Funds raised will help support Grade 8 students participate in French language and cultural immersion events.
City of Port Coquitlam hosts a free concert, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Lions Park, featuring Apollo Votary. This six-piece band was formed in 2009, and released their debut CD last summer.
