The City of Coquitlam and the Evergreen Cultural Centre are teaming up to offer an opportunity for artists to showcase their works in front of thousands of people this summer.
Sunday, April 15, represents the deadline for submissions for artists looking to showcase their works at Coquitlam's Canada Day celebrations at Lafarge Lake, an event that attracts anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 people.
The talent call is open to any B.C.-based artist with a demonstrated competency in their medium of choice. The other entry criteria includes the provision that all works must be original and available for sale.
The selections will be made based on the number of available spaces, the quality of the artist's work and the likelihood that those pieces will sell.
Submission proposals must include the following information: contact details, including name, address, phone number and e-mail; five high-resolution images of current work; a bio and brief description and a price list related to the images.
Artists who end up making the grade will be featured in promotional materials ahead of the event, and will be responsible for display and sales materials, as well as all sales transactions.
The fee to apply is $75 and submissions will be accepted by e-mail only.
Those interested in applying can send their submissions to Astrid Heyerdahl, Evergreen's visual arts manager, via astrid@evergreenculturalcentre.ca
The notification date for artists is Tuesday, April 17, while the Canada Day festivities will run from noon to 9 p.m. on July 1.
