Six actors from the Tri-Cities will get a chance to sail the high seas, meet Captain Blight and look on as Princess Friday gets rescued from distress - all within the con-fines of Surrey's city limits.

The half dozen local actors are taking part in the Royal Canadian Theatre's annual British pantomime performance of Robinson Crusoe, which runs from Dec. 20 to Jan. 5 at the Surrey Arts Centre.

Actors Tim Zhang, Bob Wilson, James and Glynis Knowlden, Erin Coon and Tony DeMatteis have all been cast into the show, which follows Robinson Crusoe and his madcap family as they set sail aboard the SS Leaky Lucy for comical adventures on the high seas.

The pantomime runs into the new year, with 7 p.m. performances slated for Dec. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 and Jan. 2, 3, 4 and 5. Matinee performances at 3 p.m. will run on Dec. 22, 23, 26, 29, 30 and Jan. 5 and 6. Tickets cost $23.95 for adults and $14.95 for children and can be purchased at the box office. The arts centre is located at 13750 88th Ave. in Surrey.

EVERGREEN WELCOMES LIONS AND WITCHES

It's all Narnia, all the time at the Evergreen Cultural Centre.

The Pacific Theatre Company is staging a five-day run of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

It began yesterday (Tuesday) and runs through Saturday, Dec. 22, with a series of evening and matinee performances.

Starring husband and wife Kaitlin Williams and Mack Gordon, the show will take the audience through an adaptation of the popular CS Lewis story, complete with imagery from both urban England and the dreamscape-like setting of Narnia.

Show times for The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe 8 p.m. nightly, though a 1 p.m. matinee will be offered on Friday, Dec. 21, while a 4 p.m. showing is slated for one day later.

POCO DANCER IN GOH'S NUTCRACKER

Port Coquitlam native Kaia Kochan will be in the midst of some pretty accomplished company this month.

The five-year-old dancer will be a part of Goh Ballet's presentation of The Nutcracker, which is slated to include dancers from the New York City Ballet as well as members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

The show runs today (Wednesday) through Saturday at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts. Tickets range in price between $32 and $83.25, plus applicable service fees, and are on sale via www.ticketmaster. ca or by calling 1-855-9855000.

POCO ACTRESS GIVES ST. NICK A HAND

Cast as an elf named Willikers, PoCo's Helen Volkow is featured in the Vagabond Players production of Dear Santa, which runs through Dec. 23 in New Westminster.

Set at the North Pole with Christmas rapidly approaching, the comedy follows a series of quirky characters rushing to get Santa Claus ready for the big night, while at the same time working to fulfill a child's special Christmas wish.

Directed by Jacqollyne Keath, Dear Santa runs at the Bernie Legge Theatre Thursdays through Sundays at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees offered on Sundays and an additional afternoon performance slated for Saturday, Dec. 22.
