LAUGHING MATTER: Yours truly, along with Great Canadian Casino's Howard Blank, hosted the Vancouver TheatreSports League's Grapes of Laugh fundraiser. Highlights included a wine tasting, a silent and live auction and laugh-out-loud performances by veteran VTSL actors. Proceeds supported the 33-year-old little-arts-organization-that-could and its community outreach and education programs.
GLASS FULL: The Looking Glass Foundation Gala for Eating Disorders is on track to raise another $300,000 for its Galiano Island treatment centre, the Woodstone Residence, Canada's only residential treatment centre for youth. The centre was created by Cindy Dobbe, Dolores Elliott and Deborah Grimm, mothers whose daughters have suffered from bulimia and anorexia nervosa. The trio welcomed a capacity crowd to their ninth annual Be YOU tiful-themed gala held at Rocky Mountaineer Station. Looking Glass director Pamela Martin emceed the formal dinner and auction.
CARING FOR KIDS: B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation is three-quarters of the way to meeting their $200-million campaign. Supporting the drive and construction of a new hospital, the Asian community held its annual gala dinner at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
