Workshop Thursday addresses dementia

The North Fraser chapter of CARP (A New Vision of Aging for Canada) is hosting a meeting for members and guests tomorrow (Thursday, March 15) focused on dementia.

Bill Munn, a clinical social worker with Fraser Health who specializes in geriatric health, will provide information on how to recognize the signs of dementia and how to cope with them, according to a press release.

He will also discuss simple exercises that can strengthen the mind and promote mental health.

Munn has made presentations to police, first responders, health-care providers, gerontologists, seniors and others.

He will also conduct a question-and-answer session following the presentation.

The session is set for 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 in Room 2 of the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, located next to the public library at 633 Poirier St. in Coquitlam.

Light refreshments will be served, and everyone is welcome to attend.
