Re: "Coquitlam Council welcomes public input," letter to the editor, Friday Aug. 16.
With all due respect to both Mr. Soofi and Mayor Stewart, let us keep the "letters to the editor" as a platform for public concern, rather than a place to politically posture.
There are many other outlets one can use in order to communicate one's political platform, and a back and forth dialogue within the "letters to the editor" section is not one such place.
Mr Soofi's letter on Aug. 7 comes at a time when he is "on the fence" in regards to running in the October byelection. A letter regarding the temperature of the council chambers and lack of transparency in local government certainly comes at an opportune time for his campaign.
Moreover, Mayor Stewart certainly had many alternatives to that of taking an entire page in the editor's section on Aug. 16 in order to communicate his belief that the transparency and environmental responsibility of his office have been exemplary.
While I will applaud both parties' initiative to communicate their beliefs, there are far more appropriate platforms for engaging in back and forth political posturing.
