Every year, Heather Thomas decorates her Port Coquitlam house for the holiday season, whether it is Christmas, or the upcoming spooky Halloween.
But rather than getting a treat for her efforts, some thieves decided they would play a trick instead.
Sometime last Thursday evening or Friday morning (Oct. 19), someone stole two large blow-up displays from her front yard on Manning Avenue.
Thomas said she bought the displays a couple of years back and doesn't have the money to replace them.
"They [kids in the neighbourhood] all look forward to seeing this and for some lowlife to come and steal this on me, I'm broken-hearted," she told The NOW, noting each display cost about $125.
One of the items was a whirl-wind globe and another a Halloween display.
Thomas explained she decorates her home to give kids in the area something to look forward to each season, adding she's not impressed when other people turn off their lights on Halloween.
"The kids just get crazy over this," she said.
Thomas had just put out the two displays a couple of days before they were stolen.
She's not sure what anyone would do with the two blow-ups, suggesting anyone who tries to buy them would know they're stolen, and if they're put on display they would be easily recognizable.
She didn't report the theft to police, but is hoping someone will recognize the two items and have them returned.
