If you'd like your child to experience an unforgettable week learning about animals, sign them up for one of the BC SPCA's summer camps being held throughout B.C.

Kids participate in a range of educational and fun activities, including animal-themed games, skits, crafts, guest speakers and more.

"The highlight for many of the kids who take part in our camps is the time they spend every day interacting with, and learning about, small animals such as cats, rats and other small furry creatures," says BC SPCA humane education manager Paula Neuman.

"They also spend time with very lovable dogs belonging to SPCA staff members."

All dogs participating in the camps have been temperament tested by BC SPCA animal welfare professionals.

In addition to learning about pet care, animal health and welfare, Neuman says the children will come away with a wealth of knowledge about farm animal welfare, wild animals, the environment and careers in the field of animal welfare.

Camp spaces fill up quickly, so please register early. Registration has begun, and can be reached by calling 604-599-7209 between Monday and Friday.

The one-week camps run throughout July and August. Camps run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and are open to children ages eight to 12.
