COQUITLAM — It’s been a particularly dangerous couple of days on the roads around Coquitlam for cyclists and motorcyclists.
Following a pair of cyclists being hit Wednesday and Thursday in separate incidents, a man on a motorcycle was killed Thursday night.
Coquitlam RCMP said the accident happened just before 11 p.m. when a blue Yamaha motorcycle heading northbound on North Road collided with a Toyota, which was making a left turn onto Foster Avenue.
The rider was transported to hospital but later died.
The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and is co-operating with police. The investigation is in its early stages, but police note it is unclear if alcohol, drugs, speed or other factors contributed to the crash.
Mounties are looking for witnesses to the crash and are asking anyone with information to call the detachment at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2012-21199.
The name of the deceased rider was not released.
On Wednesday, a man was critically injured after being struck by a car in a crosswalk on David Avenue, while a 14-year-old boy was rushed to hospital Thursday afternoon with serious injuries after being hit by an SUV in front of the SilverCity Theatres on Schoolhouse Street.
