Tri-Cities Rotary clubs will be holding their biannual Generous Hearts Food Drive this weekend to support the SHARE food bank.
Every two weeks, the food bank distributes hampers to a minimum of 900 families in the Tri-Cities, according to a press release, and 43 per cent of recipients are under the age of 18.
The four Rotary clubs of the Tri-Cities have been committed to ensuring the food bank is filled at its crucial points of the year for the past three years. Through the Generous Hearts Food Drive campaign, they have raised $32,176 and 56,365 pounds of food to date.
The Generous Hearts Food Drive will take place this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14, from noon to 6 p.m. at the following grocery stores in the Tri-Cities:
. Marketplace IGA in Coquitlam, 1410 Parkway Blvd.
. Marketplace IGA in Port Moody, 221 Ioco Rd.
. PriceSmart Foods in Coquitlam, Pinetree Village, 2991 Lougheed Hwy.
. Save on Foods in Port Coquitlam, 2385 Ottawa St.
. Thrifty Foods in Coquitlam, Austin Station, 2662 Austin Ave.
. Thrifty Foods in Port Moody, Suter Brook, 170 Brew St.
Donations of food will also be accepted at the SHARE food bank at 2615 Clarke St. in Port Moody, or at any grocery store with a food bank box in the Tri-Cities. Items most needed include peanut butter, rice and canned meat and vegetables.
