The divas are bringing back the bling along with a side order of glamour.

The second rendition of the Tri-Cities Oscar night celebration is slated for this Sunday, Feb. 26 at Coquitlam City Hall, a night that marries philanthropy with Hollywood-style extravaganza.

Organized by the "three divas" - Port Moody Coun. Diana Dilworth, Coquitlam Coun. Selina Robinson and local event planner Polly Krier - the Oscar night party will also benefit three local charities: the New View Society, KidSport Tri-Cities and the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

"The uniqueness of this event is that it offers something for everyone," Dilworth said. "Some people like to show up really early, sit in front of the big screen and watch the red carpet presentation. And there's even people that come to these events that don't watch the Oscars. They just come for the uniqueness, the fun and the socialization of the event."

Running from 3: 45 to 9 p.m., the celebration will feature swag bags for those in attendance, and those gift packs will include tickets to Coquitlam Adanacs games, coupons and gift cards from local businesses, chocolate treats and assorted beauty products.

And like last year, prizes will be awarded to those who correctly predict the evening's big winners in a random draw. Once the Academy's official envelopes are opened, local ballots will be drawn in seven categories named after some of the more famous past best picture nominees.

To that end, the My Fair Lady award - named for the 1964 Best Picture winner - will go to the person who correctly predicts the best supporting actress award winner. The prizes include jewellery, salon gift cards and other beauty products.

The Champ (1931-32 nominee) award links to the best actor recipient, with winner receiving tickets for Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Coquitlam Adanacs and Coquitlam Express games, on top other sports apparel and gear.

The Social Network (2010 nominee) award goes to the best supporting actor, and will see the prize winner take home two tickets to many of the major gala events in the Tri-Cities: The Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation gala, A Taste of the Tri-Cities, Treasures of Christmas and more.

The best supporting actress award, which takes its moniker from the 1955 nominated Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing, is all about romance. The winner will receive a hotel package for two, tickets to a show and dinner at the Red Robinson Show Theatre, dance lessons at Coquitlam's Arthur Murray Dance Studio and a bottle of champagne.

The best director award takes it cue from the 1967 film Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and will see the three divas prepare a dinner for the winner complete with flowers, food, wine and music.

The Lost Weekend (1945 Oscar winner) prize will go the person who picks the best picture award, which nets the winner a golf getaway to Predator Ridge Resort in Kelowna.

A new category included this year is the Some Like It Hot (1959, not nominated) award, which will go to the person deemed to be the best dressed as they walk down the red carpet and into City Hall.

Last year's event raised close to $9,000, which went towards the SHARE Society, Crossroads Hospice Society and the Society for Community Development.

"I would like to at least top last year. We don't have a goal in mind per se, but you're always pushing to do better. Our goal is to bring the community together to support these charities," Robinson said.

Tickets for Sunday's event cost $65 and can be purchased at the guest services outlet in Coquitlam Centre mall, by e-mailing thethreedivas@shaw.ca or at City Hall on the night of the event.
