Former Coquitlam councillor Barrie Lynch confirmed Thursday he will run in the Coquitlam council byelection.
Lynch, who ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2011, served as a councillor from 2002 through 2011.
"Coquitlam is an exceptional place to live and work and I have been proud to raise my family here and call it home for 36 years," he said in a press release.
"And with nine years on council I have the knowledge and experience to step in and serve as a councillor again right away.
"I want to ensure that the growth Coquitlam is experiencing is balanced with the delivery of the services the community needs while preserving the jewels of the city like the Riverview lands."
The byelection is set for Oct. 26. The deadline to file nomination papers is Sept. 20.
