The Children of the Street Society invites residents to kick off the summer season by attending a fundraising event at the John B Neighbourhood Pub (1000 Austin Ave. in Coquitlam).
The society's third-annual Pub Night FUNdraiser will take place tomorrow (Thursday, July) from 6 to 9 p.m. (food will be served until 7: 30 p.m).
Tickets are $20 each, which includes a burger (chicken, beef or veggie), fries and a drink (attendees must be 19 or older).
All proceeds from the event go towards the society's prevention, education, early intervention and support programs, addressing the sexual exploitation of children and youth.
This past school year, the Children of the Street Society's school-based program, Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others (TCO2) delivered 541 prevention workshops to 22,524 children and youth in 33 communities throughout B.C. The school-based program, designed and delivered by young adult workshop facilitators, addresses recruitment, online safety, healthy relationships, gangs and other current trends relating to sexual exploitation.
