Heritage Mountain middle school finally has a home.

The new school will be built just north of Heritage Woods Secondary on the lower half of a site in Anmore.

The $28-million project is slated to open in 2013. Built to a LEED gold standard, the school will accommodate 450 students.

School District 43 will also provide details on a replacement school for Moody Middle in early October, according to a press release.

"We are so excited to be moving ahead with this much needed new middle school, and we look forward to beginning construction on the replacement school for Moody Middle as well," board chair Melissa Hyndes said in a release.

The Heritage Mountain community is invited to an open house event on Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Woods Secondary, located at 1300 David Ave. in Port Moody.

Residents will have the opportunity to provide input and to get information from staff and consultants.
