Thanks to a generous donation, Westwood Elementary students in Port Coquitlam got the chance to get their hands dirty and plant a tree at their school to mark National Tree Day.

The planting, left, took place Sept. 26 to celebrate National Tree Day, an event hosted by Tree Canada. The group says it has planted more than 78 million trees and greened more than 520 schoolyards during the past 20 years.
