PORT COQUITLAM — An alleged carjacking and later police-involved shooting in a small B.C. Interior town turn out to have a Tri-Cities connection.

Two Port Coquitlam residents are facing charges stemming from a bizarre set of events on Oct. 2 in the town of Creston.

Nickolas John Bullock, 26, is facing charges of robbery and possession of stolen property, while an unidentified 17-year-old girl is facing a single charge of possession of stolen property.

According to Cranbrook RCMP, police received a report of a carjacking south of Creston.

The victim told police he had stopped to help a man and a woman who were hitchhiking.

The victim alleged he had been pepper sprayed, physically kicked out of his vehicle and left on the roadside.

An off-duty RCMP officer later spotted the stolen car and tried to pull it over.

At some point during the arrest, the officer shot the driver.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mounties in Cranbrook wouldn’t say what the pair was doing in the area at the time of the incidents.

Bullock was already facing several weapons charges in Port Coquitlam dating back to Sept. 13. He was scheduled to make a court appearance relating to those charges on Friday (Oct. 5).

The province’s new Independent Investigations Office is investigating the police shooting.
