PORT COQUITLAM — Last year around this time, Jafar Imanpour went for a short walk while visiting family in their Port Coquitlam neighbourhood.

He was supposed to be gone 15 minutes.

Imanpour never returned.

A year later, the grandfather from Iran is still missing and Coquitlam Mounties have no new leads in the mystery.

RCMP Const. Michelle Luca said police are still investigating Imanpour’s disappearance, but have no idea where he might be.

“It’s the public that will help us the most at this point to helping us locating him,” she told The NOW.

On Sept. 25, 2011 at about 5: 15 p.m., Imanpour told his family he was going for a 15-minute walk and left their Toronto Street home.

Coquitlam RCMP, along with Coquitlam Search and Rescue, immediately scoured the streets and parks on the north side of Port Coquitlam.

Luca said there is no indication the 74-year-old man met with foul play.

Imanpour's son, Mehrdad, made an emotional plea to the public at the time of his dad’s disappearance.

“My father came about one month ago to visit us. After two weeks, he has gone missing. I just want to ask for help," he said.

Imanpour’s son Hossein also released statement on the disappearance.

"Dear Dad. It's your son, Hossein. I have come from Geneva to see you. Where have you gone? We are all waiting for you. Mom and the rest of the family are waiting for your return and we want to see you as soon as possible," he said in a written translation provided by the RCMP.

"If you can see or hear my voice, please contact the police and tell them you are lost. We miss you. Please call home as we are anxiously waiting for you to come back."

The family also offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Imanpour.

The NOW attempted to contact Imanpour’s family for comment but was unable to do so before press deadline.

Police are still asking for the public’s help in finding the missing man.

Imanpour is described as an Iranian man standing five feet 11-inches tall, weighing 192 pounds with a medium build. He is balding with white hair and a white moustache.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue baseball cap, black jacket, blue jeans, black runners and glasses.

Anyone with information on Imanpour is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
