COQUITLAM It looks like a suspected serial lotto thief has run out of luck.
Coquitlam Mounties arrested a 36-year-old man believed to be responsible for multiple robberies in the Tri-Cities committed during the holiday season.
The man, who has not been identified, was arrested Friday allegedly fleeing the scene after attempting to steal a handful of lottery tickets from a Port Coquitlam liquor store.
A press release noted Coquitlam RCMP is working closely with neighbouring police agencies and partners to ensure that all applicable charges are forwarded.
Police are expected to release further details about the case later Monday (Jan. 7), once the suspect has made his first court appearance.
Mounties first asked for the publics help in catching the thief prior to Christmas.
Investigators believe the suspect is behind robbing as many as eight convenience stores in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam of scratch-and-win tickets.
The robberies had taken place in a two-week span between Nov. 29 and Dec. 13.
The robber has used either a gun or knife to pull off the robberies.
