Coquitlam RCMP are investigating a crash involving a Port Moody police car that occurred last week.
The incident happened at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 14 after a marked police car collided with a cyclist at the intersection of Westwood Street and Lougheed Highway.
According to police, the cop car was turning right from Westwood Street to westbound Lougheed Highway, while the cyclist was cycling through the intersection northbound on Westwood Street. The cyclist collided with the driver's side fender and the windshield of the police car.
The cyclist was transported to hospital for non life-threatening injuries and was later released.
RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung said the investigation into the collision will be handled like any file, other than investigators had to notify the Port Moody Police Department regarding the incident.
Police have spoken to witnesses at the scene, but ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
