The Spike Awards are all about recognizing the best of Port Moody business.
To help celebrate a local company that's showcasing technology, celebrating the arts or excelling in customer service, the city is offering an iPad to someone who nominates their favourite business. The contest is open until September 27. A year ago, more than 250 nominations were submitted for the contest. This year, there are eight different categories.
But that's not all.
"Port Moody is also looking for another One Minute Pitch champion," said Mayor Mike Clay in a press release. "We're giving anyone one minute and one PowerPoint slide to sell us on their best business idea at our Oct. 24 award ceremony."
For the eighth annual Spike Awards, the best of the city will be recognized at a gala event at City Hall on Oct. 24.
To submit a nomination or get in the One-Minute Pitch contest, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 604-469-4540. Who's the best? Well, in PoCo we're going to find out.
The City of Port Coquitlam has announced the first PoCo Best Biz Awards highlighting the very best in local businesses.
Any business is allowed to be nominated by submitting a registration form online at www.portcoquitlam.ca/bizawards. Businesses can also submit a 30-second video to be put on the city’s website by Oct. 3. The videos will then be posted from Oct. 4 to 11.
Users can then access the website and vote for their favourite business to receive the People's Choice Award.
"The new awards shine the spotlight on our businesses and the contributions they make to our community," PoCo mayor Greg Moore said in a press release. "We have outstanding businesses in Port Coquitlam and we want to encourage and support them - and we want everyone to know that we're open for businesses."
Businesses may be nominated in two of the five categories: Super Service; Home-based Business Award; Living Green Award; PoCo Star Award; and the Giving Back Award. To learn more, go to www.portcoquitlam.ca or call 604-927-5249.
