The offence is back.

The high-flying Vancouver Northeast Chiefs have regained their offensive flare and jumped back on a winning streak, thanks to a sweep of the Kootenay Ice in B.C.

Major Midget Hockey League action.

The Chiefs shook off two losses to the Vancouver Canadians the previous week to deck Kootenay 5-4 and 10-0 at Coquitlam's Planet Ice.

In the opener, the hosts built up a 5-1 lead late in the second but had to fend off a hungry Ice squad in the third. Kootenay closed the gap to one goal but couldn't bury the equalizer.

Leading the way for the Chiefs were Liam Pearce, Adam Rockwood and Jeff Wight, each with a goal and an assist. Chipping in with singles were Tim Chow and Truman Gonzales.

A day later, it was a completely different story. The Chiefs scored five times in the first period and five more in the third en route to a 10-0 shellacking of the Ice.

The Coquitlam-based Chiefs racked up three shorthanded markers in the contest.

Anmore's Nicholas Rasovic tallied twice and set up another, while Pitt Meadows' Boston Colley potted a pair and set up two more.

Also tallying twice were Chow and Wight, while Viktor Dombrovskiy and Jamie Waddington added a goal and two helpers apiece.

With the wins, the Chiefs improved to 18-10-4 and remain tied with the Canadians for third place.
