The Simon Fraser University men’s swimming team scored a win over the division I Seattle University Redhawks on Saturday, winning 114-88 in dual meet action.
Pitt Meadows’ Ciaran McDonnell and Paolo Olavario (Toronto, Ont.) got the final two victories for the Clan at the meet, with McDonnell taking the 100-metre butterfly in a time of 56.97 and Olavario winning the 100-metre backstroke in a time of 56.70.
Julian Monks (Whitby, Ont.) won two events for SFU at the meet, taking the 200-metre individual medley in a time of 2:08.96, before winning the 100-metre breaststroke in a time of 1:03.99.
Coquitlam’s Dimitar Ivanov got the Clan’s first individual win in the competition, when he won the 800-metre freestyle in convincing fashion thanks to a time of 8:44.01.
Adam Kautz (Calgary, Alb.) followed that up with a victory in the 200-metre freestyle in a time of 1:55.86.
Teammates Jason Evans (Calgary, Alb.) and Hans Heyer (Frankfurt, Germany) battled down to the wire in the 50-metre freestyle, with Evans edging Heyer with a time of 24.75, compared to Heyer’s time of 24.84, giving the Clan first and second place in the event.
