Local Twisters shine at Western meet

 

Langleyites were among a group of Abbotsford Twisters competing at the Langley Events Centre

 
 
 

Seven Abbotsford Twisters, including two from Langley, competed in the Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships at the Langley Events Centre last weekend.

They included Andry Friesen, Dawson Friesen, and Cohen Kiers from Abbotsford; Aiden Daniell and Kyle Machibroda-Ames from Langley; Steven Chaplin from Mission; and Marquita Morison from Chilliwack.

Chaplin came away as the Western Canadian National Youth champion.

He qualified for the finals in all his events and won gold on floor, pommels, rings, vault, and parallel bars, to go along with a bronze on high bar.

Langley athletes' results were:

Aiden Daniell came fifth all-around and qualified for finals on pommels, rings, and high bar. He came sixth on pommels and rings and fourth on high bar.

Kyle Machibroda-Ames placed seventh all-around, and qualified for finals on pommels, parallel bars, and high bar.

He won silver on high bar and bronze on pommels, and came fourth on parallel bars.
