The warm, welcoming Florida weather helped get the best out of the Burnaby Mountain Selects boys' elite field lacrosse team last month.

The squad, which included five Tri-Cities players, finished eighth overall at the NDP Tourament of Champions in the high school elite division. Burnaby Mountain entered ranked sixth overall among the best high school squads.

Coquitlam midfielders Jordan Stroup, Matt Symes and defender Alex Thomson, Port Coquitlam defender Nick Theobald and Port Moody goaltender Jacob Moran helped the club go undefeated in the qualifying round. In the playoffs, the B.C. crew topped Maryland 12-2 before falling 8-6 to the FCA under-19 national team.
