COQUITLAM - A five-goal performance from veteran Ben McIntosh provided some timely spark in the Coquitlam Adanacs' 12-7 victory over the Delta Islanders in Game 1 of their B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League final.

McIntosh tallied twice within a span of 29 seconds to propel the regular season champion Adanacs into a 5-2 lead 14 minutes into the game. He would pick up his third goal minutes later, as Coquitlam staked out a 7-4 advantage after one period.

He added a goal in the second and another in the third, as the defending league champs set a dominating tone to the best-of-seven final series.

Robert Church cashed in twice and set up three others, while Reid Reinholdt had a goal and five assists.

Chipping in with single markers were Nathan Klein, Vincent Ricci, Challen Rogers and Cole Shafer, while Wesley Berg drew four assists.

Logan Schuss led Delta shooters with two goals and four helpers.

Making 29 saves to pick up the win was Davide DiRuscio, while Coquitlam pelted Peter Dubenski with 48 shots.

Game 2 is slated for Thursday, 8 p.m. at Sungod Arena in North Delta. The series returns to the Poirier Sports Centre on Monday (Aug. 6, 8 p.m.) for Game 3, and continues next Wednesday in North Delta.
