Omega Gymnastics hosted its annual Invitational competition last week to mark their 30th anniversary.

More than 225 gymnasts from across the province came to the Coquitlam facility, covering the youngest divisions to provincial and national-calibre athletes.

Omega proved to be in peak form, collecting 84 medals over the three days, including 40 gold.

"It's a fun and exciting competition," Omega head coach Vladimir Lashin said. "All the young athletes work hard to get to this level and they do great. They're a large part of why Omega is one of Gymnastics Canada's select few Clubs of Excellence."

It also launched the official competitive season for the girls, which now will see six Omega athletes head off to the Artistic Gymnastics Elite Canada meet in Mississauga next week.

Heading to the Gymnastics Elite Canada event are Omega's Seina Cho, Haley DeJong, Jordan DeJong, Samantha Joo, Shallon Olsen and Angel Zhong.
