Boat lovers and those with boating interest are invited to participate in the second annual Family Fun Boat Festival at Port Moody's Old Orchard Park on Sunday.

The event, presented by the Pleasantside Community Association and running 1 to 4 p.m., features fun recreational and competitive canoe and kayaking races, demonstrations for novices, and kid-friendly activities such as toy boat building, kid races and food.

The event aims to promote family participation in water sports. A few boats and a kayak will be available for loan, but entries are encouraged to bring their own. Racers can register at Old Orchard Park, which is located off Ioco Road. The fee is $5 each, or $10 per family.
