Coquitlam natives Bobby Pospischil and Lemar Durant left their imprints all over an Oregon football field Friday night.
The two local products helped propel Simon Fraser University's football to an emphatic 51-14 win over Pacific University Boxers to kick off the university gridiron season.
In the case of Pospischil, the Terry Fox alumnus scampered for an 84-yard punt return, while also picking up 28 yards on his lone rush of the day. He also collected 37 yards on three passes.
Durant, on the other hand, picked up 28 yards on five receptions, including a two-yard touchdown reception from sophomore Clan quarterback Trey Wheeler.
"It was an interesting opener in a pretty hostile environment," said head coach Dave Johnson in a press release. "School just started here and the student section was packed, it's a tough place to play. The environment is really exciting and our kids' intensity matched the situation. I was pleased with how physical we were."
SFU's home opener goes at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8.
