The hockey gods giveth, and the hockey gods taketh away - particularly when your fate is decided in a shootout.

The Tri-Cities Predators girls midget 1 hockey team can speak to that reality all too well, after experiencing both sides of that situation in less than a four-hour turnaround at last week's Kamloops Female Ice Hockey Tournament.

Down 2-0 going into the third in semifinal play against Cranbrook, the Predators stormed back to tie the game in regulation before earning the 4-3 win in the shootout off of markers from Nicole Vukasovic, Megan Bradford and Amy Cave.

With just over an hour to decompress from that thriller, the Preds found themselves in the exact same scenario in the championship game, although minus a few regulars due to injury.

In that contest, the Predators dropped a 3-2 decision to their counterparts from Kelowna.
