There was no bad blood, just good basketball at the Coquitlam District junior girls championships last week.

The final featured regular the season champion Riverside Rapids, coached by Caitlin Langford, against the Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils, coached by Kelli Langford.

The two sisters maintained a friendly rivalry all season long as the teams finished one-two in the standings.

When the smoke cleared Wednesday, Riverside took the district playoff title with a 66-40 victory.

Tournament MVP Vanessa Gee scored 22 points and Daniela Antignani chipped in 10.

"This was our best showing against Best," Caitlin Langford told The NOW in an e-mail.

"It's the third time we have played [and] we won the other two games by around 10 points."

The Gleneagle Talons, meanwhile, edged the Archbishop Carney Stars 34-28 to take third place.

Putting in strong work for the Talons were point guard and scoring leader Izzy Samaniego, Victoria Lige, defensive specialist Courtenay Bengco and post and top rebounder Lauren Pettifer.

All four teams now advance to the Fraser Valleys next week.

In the junior boys final, the Gleneagle Talons topped the Terry Fox Ravens 51-43.

Placing third overall were the Riverside Rapids, with Heritage Woods finishing fourth.
