Basketball court challenges and a posse of soccer matches top the list of this week's sporting schedule. Topping the list is the Terry Fox Legal Beagle Invitational, pitting many of the top ranked teams in senior boys basketball:
COURTSIDE DRAMA
With three of the top-four teams in AAA boys basketball in town, plus some hungry challengers, the Terry Fox Legal Beagle Invitational rises to the top of the docket this week, beginning tomorrow (Thursday). Action tips off at 3 p.m. with No. 4 White Rock playing Pitt Meadows, followed by No. 1 Kitsilano facing Gleneagle. Terry Fox plays at 6: 45 p.m. against Sardis, while Walnut Grove meets Van College at 8: 30 p.m.
Action continues Friday and Saturday, with all games at Terry Fox Secondary. The final is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday.
GAME OF GOOD CHEER
Both Archbishop Carney senior basketball teams keep the high tempo action in PoCo, as they host the Carney Classic, starting 8: 30 a.m. Thursday and ending Saturday. The host Carney girls face St. Pats at noon Thursday, while the No. 10 AA ranked Carney boys tip-off against Elgin Park at 1: 45 p.m. The finals are slated for Saturday, 7 and 8: 30 p.m.
PRESSURE POINT
The Coquitlam Express look to ignite their playoff push and end a four-loss skid with a pair of games at the Poirier Sports Centre. On Friday, the Express take on the red-hot Merritt Centennials; on Saturday, it's the division rival Prince George Spruce Kings back in town. Both games start at 7 p.m.
