We predict you'll see the name Steven Moretto in the previously-mentioned "hometown hero of the year" slot in some future year-end roundup because based on his headline-making performances to date, Moretto has a bright future ahead. The Burnaby preteen - yep, he's just 12 years old - was the provincial batting leader who helped lead the Hastings Little League team all the way to the World Series. But that's not all: earlier this month, Moretto was named MVP for his role in helping the Notre Dame Jugglers win their first Quadra Cup title in almost three decades.

"It's been an amazing year," Moretto told the NOW about the Jugglers' season - and indeed it has been, on the football field but also on the baseball diamond. One to watch for sure.
