Struggles continue to beleaguer Express

The return of John Siemer didn't do the Coquitlam Express any good Sunday. The B.C. Hockey League squad saw their former leading scorer take to the ice with the Penticton Vees, resulting in a 6-3 loss.

The loss was Coquitlam's fourth straight, including two other games on the weekend. Coquitlam was doubled 4-2 on Friday by the Langley Rivermen, and were blanked 5-0 in Merritt Saturday by the Centennials.

Against the defending Royal Bank Cup champion Vees, the home team did a valiant job at keeping the game close. They cut the deficit to one goal on three separate occasions, only to see Penticton pull away.

Defencemen Marc Biega, Brad Ryan and affiliate callup Kolten Grieve tallied for Coquitlam.

The squad now trails Langley for the final playoff spot by three points - with the Rivermen holding four games in hand.

The 17-24-1-0 Express now head out on the road to Prince George this weekend for a pair of games.
