Wall-to-wall friends and family came to celebrate the induction and honours expressed to Coquitlam's sports leaders last Thursday, as the Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame held its third annual induction ceremony.

With a full house of 260 people filling the Poirier Sports Centre's lobby, the evening featured moving speeches and graceful thank-yous from those who were being honoured for careers worth of achievements and dedication.

The ceremony, hosted for the third time by TV sportscaster Barry Deley, began with Hall of Fame member Lui Passaglia presenting awards to this year's Wall of Fame recipients, celebrating the achievements of 2011.

Helping induct this year's Hall of Fame inductees was HOF member Chris Wilson. Those entering the hall this year were Neil Godin (gymnastics), Gail Harvey Moore (golf - deceased), Norm McLeod (soccer) and the 2001 Coquitlam Adanacs (lacrosse).

Many members of the 2001 Mann Cup champion Adanacs were in attendance, while daughters Dana Herdman and Julie Whitworth accepted the honour on behalf of Harvey Moore. Entering the hall in the builders category for 2012 were William Azzi (soccer), Don Cunnings (community) and Lois McNary (Special Olympics).

Being celebrated for their achievements in 2011 with the Wall of Fame awards were Larkyn Austman, Shawn Bowman, Sean Casey, A.J. Ewart, Jasmin Glaesser, Hodson Harding, Jisoo Keel, Wade MacLeod, Tory Nyhaug, Brittany Rogers, Jackie Rothenberger, Matt Trimble and Jennifer Yang, coach Alfonso Napoletano and his Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils boys soccer team.

There to celebrate the 2012 Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame inductees were Deputy Mayor Craig Hodge, Hall of Fame member Lui Passaglia and Coun. Terry O'Neill.
Honoured with a Wall of Fame award was the 2010 senior boys provincial championship Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils soccer team and coach of the year Alfonso Napoletano.
