The target of a brazen daylight shooting in Coquitlam less than two years ago is believed to be the victim in a Surrey murder.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified a body found near the Delta Golf Course Monday as that of Surrey resident Jaskaran Sandhu.
The 26-year-old was also believed to be the target of a shooting at the Mr. Lube on Barnet Highway at Lansdowne Drive on Sept. 28, 2011.
Last April, Coquitlam Mounties announced charges against another Surrey man in relation to the shooting at the Mr. Lube.
Sukhdeep Singh Poony, 27, was charged with six offenses, including attempted murder using a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, pointing a firearm, extortion, uttering threats and assault with a weapon.
RCMP said investigators were able to identify the alleged shooter after getting information on the car he was driving and using video surveillance from the business.
Police believe the gunman arrived, fired multiple shots and hit a man who was having his car serviced. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
The case against Poony is still before the courts.
