A new season of the Mundy Mudthudders begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31.
The informal walking group aims to lead mature adults eager to build and maintain healthy fitness levels with a safe, friendly group of like-minded nature enthusiasts.
One-hour walks are intended to challenge, motivate and relax participants, while exploring regional nature places rich in wildlife values.
Mudthudders are based in Coquitlam's best walking fitness venue, according to organizer Judy Donaghey, "enjoying Mundy Forest's superb 14-km peat bog trail network, winding past its two natural lakes."
Sessions include seasonal excursions to Belcarra, Port Moody Inlet, PoCo trails and beyond, whim and weather permitting. There's a strong social element, participating in local events and the occasional night out.
Mudthudders meet at Mundy Park's western edge by Como Lake Village, near the trail head at the foot of Regan Avenue, where street parking is available outside Hillcrest School's parking lot.
Comprehensive map books including destination regional trails are available for a nominal charge to cover the instructor's costs.
