There's no doubt the communities that make up the Tri-Cities are both distinct and beloved by the residents who call each of them home.
But unlike any other area in Metro Vancouver, the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra are indelibly linked, whether it be through the natural geography of the land or by the various government, business and social organizations that operate within the region.
For nearly 30 years, The NOW newspaper has arrived at doorsteps and, more recently, desktops, serving these unique and united communities through all of their spectacular triumphs and agonizing tragedies. Now the newspaper Tri-Cities residents have come to know and trust for the best local coverage of their own city has a new name that best represents all five communities.
Starting today, the newspaper in your hands changes from The NOW to The Tri-Cities NOW.
Along with the name change comes a new design that brings a fresh new look to the award-winning content residents have come to expect.
"We believe it is time to revitalize the newspaper," says Tri-Cities NOW publisher Derrick Chamberlain.
"All five great communities we serve are changing and growing and we need to change and grow as well. We're working hard to make sure we're delivering the news and information you want, every Wednesday and Friday."
But make no mistake, The Tri-Cities NOW is still the same newspaper that brings readers the best coverage of all things local in each municipality.
Your favourite columnists and features are still here, and we're adding more local news, more coverage of community events and more photo spreads.
Our recent introduction of Layar technology brings stories, photos and ads to life through augmented reality. Download the free Layar app to your smartphone if you haven't already done so and you will share in this amazing experience.
The success of our paper for the past three decades and beyond wouldn't be possible without you - the reader. We thank you for reading The Tri-Cities NOW. And please, feel free to let us know what you think by e-mailing us at editorial@ thenownews.com.
